Our Vision

"And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.'" (Mark16:15)

It is City Church's vision to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in all the earth. Gospel meaning, "Good News" that through the suffering of Jesus Christ on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Also, it is our intention to make the gospel of God's grace clearly understood to every believer so that every child of God will cease from their own dead works and rest their hope completely in the grace of God that is found in Jesus Christ.

God

We believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit. This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

"For these three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one." (1 John 5:6-7)

"In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1John 4:10)

Gospel

City Church believes that the preaching and teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation. We also believe that the gospel is the "good news" of the grace of God.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:16)

Grace

City Church believes and emphasizes that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the message of God's grace. Moreover, that it is God's grace that brings salvation builds us up and teaches us to deny ungodliness and to live righteously. That our salvation is given to us through what Christ accomplished at the cross and not by our efforts or behavior.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Paul states in Acts 20:24, "But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in the present age..." (Titus 2:11-12)

"And now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified." (Acts 20:32)

Praise & Worship

We believe that although praise and worship is most often associated with music and song that praise and worship are the heart and life of every believer. Yes we enjoy praise and worship in our services; however, we teach that praise and worship is the ongoing response of mouths from our hearts to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In essence all we do should be an act of worship to God.

Prayer

City Church believes in the power of prayer and communicates its importance. Prayer is the way in which we commune and communicate with God and is vital to the life of every believer. Prayer is not optional, it is essential. Jesus said when you pray, (not if you pray)

"In this manner therefore pray..." (Matthew 6:7-15)

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."( Philippians 4:6-7)

Holy Spirit & Spirit filled living

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the mark of salvation in the life of a person. Jesus teaches Nicodemus that one must be born of the Spirit of God to see or enter into the kingdom of God.

"Jesus answered, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of the water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. ' That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.' Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'" (John 3:5-7)

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the life of Jesus Christ and the power of God the Father living within every believer. We believe that the Holy Spirit brings to all believers the gifts of the Spirit and manifests with every believer the fruit of the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 & Galatians 5:22-25

We also believe that we are to walk in the Spirit, be lead by the Spirit and live a Spirit filled life in Christ Jesus.  (Romans 8:1-39)

Training, Teaching and Equipping

We believe that the bible is the word of God and that it is Spirit breathed and that is profitable for doctrine, correction and reproof. Also, we have incorporated within the very culture of our church programs that promote and facilitate biblical teaching and training thus equipping believers bringing them into a deeper richer understanding of God's word and what Jesus Christ has accomplished through His death, burial and resurrection.

Furthermore, we teach and promote the importance of mentoring, discipleship, leadership training on a local level; that people are encouraged to discover their gifting and callings.

Networking and Relating

City Church is one of many churches within the body of Christ working together (not in competition with) the churches to reach our city with the gospel. City Church is also one of many relating churches with New Covenant Ministries International. We find that through relating to other church ministries with similar vision and purpose we fulfill scripture and encourage one and other and join together in reaching the world.
